A heartbreaking incident has been reported in Kano State as a woman, Hafsatu Yusuf, passed away just hours after giving birth to quintuplets at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.
The Kano State Ministry of Health confirmed the sad development, revealing that the mother d+ed in the early hours of Thursday, March 26, after suffering severe complications following delivery.
According to the ministry’s spokesperson, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa, the woman experienced persistent bl+eding after successfully delivering five babies, three boys and two girls. Despite efforts by medical personnel to stabilise her condition, she did not survive.
“She had been bl+eding since after delivery, and all attempts by doctors to save her life were unsuccessful,” he stated.
The deceased has since been laid to rest in line with Islamic rites at her residence in Hotoro.
Meanwhile, the five newborns are said to be in stable condition and are currently receiving medical care at the hospital.
The ministry has also appealed to the public for support, urging well-meaning individuals to assist with baby supplies, including milk and other essentials for the quintuplets.
