Tragedy struck along the Bangi–Mangoro route in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State after suspected bandits launched a deadly ambush on a family traveling through the area.
According to reports, the attack occurred on Friday evening when the assailants intercepted the victims. The father was shot dead on the spot, while his wife was forcibly taken away by the attackers.
Their young son, who survived the incident, was left alone at the scene and is currently in Mangoro, where he is waiting for relatives to arrive and take him to safety.
