In the early hours of Saturday, terrorist elements launched a coordinated attack on a Forward Operating Base in Mandaragirau, Borno State, but troops of Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled the assault.
The troops engaged the attackers with superior firepower, neutralising at least 8 terrorists, while several others are believed to have been wounded or killed, as blood trails were seen along their escape routes.
During the operation, troops recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition, including 7 AK-47 rifles and RPG bombs.
Importantly, no Nigerian military personnel were killed in the attack. However, one MRAP vehicle was hit during the exchange.
This marks another significant victory for the troops as they continue sustained offensives against tеrror elements in the region.
