Israel Adesanya Suffers Fourth Straight Loss, Knocked Out by Joe Pyfer

Israel Adesanya

Fighter Israel Adesanya suffered a knockout defeat to Joe Pyfer at UFC Seattle, marking the fourth consecutive loss of his MMA career.

Pyfer finished the fight in two rounds, securing the biggest win of his career and moving into the UFC middleweight top four.

Adesanya, who lost the middleweight title to Sean Strickland in September 2023 and was previously submitted by Dricus du Plessis and knocked out by Nassourdine Imavov, traded strikes with Pyfer for most of the bout.

In round two, Pyfer took Adesanya’s back, flattened him, and landed multiple strikes before referee Herb Dean stopped the fight at 4:18.

Despite the loss, Adesanya confirmed he will continue fighting. Pyfer, emotional after the win, said, “God restored me, that’s the only reason I’m here… [Adesanya] is one of the highest IQ champions of all time. He’s the greatest middleweight of all time.”

This defeat highlights Adesanya’s ongoing slump but he remains determined to compete at the top level
