
The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the death of two persons in a tragic multiple crash that occurred at Soka Junction along the Ibadan–Lagos Expressway.
According to the Command, the incident, which happened at about 10:10 p.m. on April 4, 2026, in Ibadan, the state capital, also left several others with varying degrees of injuries.
Preliminary findings revealed that the accident was caused by a white HOWO truck with registration number Gombe GEM696XE, driven by one Abdullahi Bashiru, who reportedly lost control due to excessive speed and reckless driving.
The truck rammed into other vehicles, including a Toyota Venza and a BMW, as well as pedestrians at the busy junction.
