Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a kidnapping attempt along the Dandume–Damari road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, rescuing three men abducted by armed bandits.
The operation followed a distress call from residents alerting security forces to an ongoing abduction along the route.
Responding swiftly, the troops moved to the scene and engaged the bandits in a gun battle. The confrontation reportedly forced the kidnappers to abandon their victims and flee into nearby bushes.
According to Zagazola, the fleeing bandits also abandoned a black Volkswagen Golf vehicle at the scene.
The three rescued victims were subjected to preliminary security checks and provided with necessary assistance before being allowed to continue their journey safely.
No casualty was recorded among the troops during the encounter.
Following the rescue, the soldiers launched a pursuit of the fleeing criminals and conducted a clearance operation around the area to secure the route and prevent the bandits from regrouping.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt bandit activities and restrict the movement of criminal elements across Katsina State.
Security forces have continued day-and-night patrols along major roads and communities in Dandume, Malumfashi and Dutsin-Ma, as well as around schools and other public facilities, in an effort to strengthen security and protect residents.
