Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has dismissed one of his Special Legislative Aides, Umar Alhassan, popularly known as King Indara, following social media posts critical of Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf.
Alhassan, a popular content creator and TikToker, had reportedly published posts carrying the phrase “Abba Must Go,” signalling his opposition to Governor Yusuf’s re-election bid.
The dismissal was announced in a statement issued on Friday by Barau’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shitu Madaki Kunchi.
According to the statement, Alhassan was removed from office over what was described as “indiscipline and disrespect” arising from his social media activities concerning the Kano governor.
The statement said the aide’s conduct was contrary to the values of respect and decorum expected from the office of the Deputy President of the Senate and inconsistent with the principles of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
“Accordingly, we announce his removal from the position of Special Legislative Assistant, SLA, in the office of the Deputy Senate President as of September 18, 2026,” the statement said.
Barau, who represents Kano North Senatorial District, also reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and expressed prayers for the success of the party “from top to bottom.”
The development followed another social media post by Alhassan in which he praised the political influence of former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The TikToker reportedly described Kano as belonging to Kwankwaso while also reaffirming his membership of the APC.
He nevertheless stated that he would not support Governor Yusuf’s bid for another term in office.
