APC-Sponsored Thugs Disrupt ADC Ward Congress in Delta Community

APC-Sponsored Thugs

Tension erupted in Afiesere, Ughelli North, on Thursday morning after suspected thugs allegedly linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) disrupted a ward congress of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to multiple eyewitness accounts, the attackers stormed the venue—reported to be around Afiesere Primary School—causing panic and chaos among participants. Attendees were forced to flee as the gathering was abruptly brought to an end.

Local sources, including a former Ughelli North II House of Assembly candidate, alleged that the disruption was a calculated attempt to intimidate opposition members ahead of the 2027 general elections. The source specifically identified the attackers as APC-sponsored thugs, raising fresh concerns about political interference and rising tensions in the state.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the APC regarding the allegations, while security agencies are yet to confirm if any arrests have been made.

The incident adds to growing fears over political violence in parts of the country as parties begin early mobilization ahead of the next electoral cycle.
