Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has criticized the performance of the current administration, alleging a sharp decline in Nigeria’s security and economic conditions since it assumed office.
Speaking at the ongoing African Democratic Congress (ADC) convention, Obi claimed that Nigeria’s global terrorism ranking has worsened significantly. According to him, the country moved from 8th position before the present government took over to 4th position today, warning that the situation could deteriorate further if urgent action is not taken.
Obi also expressed concern over rising poverty levels, stating that Nigeria’s poverty rate has surged from 41.6 percent to 63 percent under the current administration. He added that the number of Nigerians living in poverty has increased dramatically from about 10 million to 140 million people.
Describing the situation as alarming, Obi called on leaders to prioritize good governance, economic reforms, and improved security measures to reverse the trend. He stressed that without decisive leadership, the country risks deeper socio-economic challenges in the coming years.
