A purported nine-minute audio recording attributed to UK-based activist Sandra C. Duru, popularly known as Prof. Mgbeke, has surfaced online, sparking fresh controversy over the lingering dispute involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In the recording, Duru allegedly claims that Akpabio hired or engaged her to mount a campaign against Akpoti-Uduaghan, amid the political and legal dispute between the Senate President and the Kogi Central lawmaker.

The alleged disclosure is the latest twist in a controversy that has generated competing accusations from both sides.
Duru previously made headlines in May 2025 after accusing Akpoti-Uduaghan of attempting to recruit her into a campaign against Akpabio and allegedly offering her N200 million to make damaging claims against the Senate President. Akpoti-Uduaghan denied the allegations and said recordings presented by Duru had been manipulated.
At the time, Akpoti-Uduaghan also alleged that Duru was acting out a script associated with Akpabio, an allegation that the Senate President has not been established by the available reports to have accepted or confirmed.
The emergence of the latest audio could therefore add another layer to the already contentious allegations surrounding the two lawmakers and Duru.
However, the authenticity of the newly circulated nine-minute recording, the identity of all voices heard in it and the context of the conversation have not been independently established.
The claims contained in the audio should therefore be treated as allegations pending verification or confirmation from the individuals involved and, where applicable, independent forensic analysis.
The controversy comes against the backdrop of the earlier dispute over Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual-harassment allegations against Akpabio. Akpabio has denied the allegations, while Akpoti-Uduaghan has maintained her position.
