Recently, a circulating clip showed the Member representing the good people of Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Hon. Gwacham Maureen Chinwe, seconding a motion on the floor of the House. What some chose to question, many others sought to understand—and in that search for clarity, the truth emerges with strength and purpose.
The motion she seconded was not ordinary. It was a life-saving call to action—a motion seeking the urgent provision of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in government institutions and public buildings across Nigeria. This is about real people, real emergencies, and real lives that can be saved when the right systems are in place.
Moved by Muktar Tolani Shagaya, a legislator known for thoughtful and credible contributions, the motion represents a national step toward strengthening emergency medical response.
In the face of public concern, Hon. Gwacham Maureen Chinwe did not remain silent. The truth is, I was momentarily caught off guard, as I was just settling into my seat when Mr. Speaker beckoned on me to second the motion moved by Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya, an equally cerebral legislator with a reputation for moving credible motions.
