209 Startups Advance as SEVCP Concludes First Screening Phase

The first phase of the SEVCP Pitch Competition has officially concluded, with 209 startups selected to advance to the next stage out of over 1,200 applications received from across South East Nigeria.

According to organisers, the selection process was highly rigorous, aimed at identifying founders who are not only developing ideas but building ventures with strong potential for scalability and long-term impact.

The Commission noted that the quality of submissions in this phase reflects a growing depth of entrepreneurial talent in the region. Across both tracks of the competition, applicants demonstrated clear problem identification, innovative thinking, and a noticeable shift towards leveraging technology as a core driver of value creation.
