
The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Olakunle Nafiu, has decorated his Military Assistant, Shuaibu Muhammad, with his new rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
The decoration ceremony, held at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, was jointly performed by Brigadier General Nafiu and the officer’s wife, Mrs Hauwa Muhammad.
Speaking at the event, General Nafiu described the newly promoted officer as diligent and committed, noting that he has consistently lived up to expectations in the discharge of his duties. He emphasized that promotion in service is not only an act of divine grace but also a reward for hard work and dedication, adding that it comes with increased responsibilities.
He urged Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad to prepare for higher duties and prayed for greater achievements and smoother promotions in the future.
In his response, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, for approving his elevation, describing the promotion as a call to greater responsibility, loyalty, and service to the nation.
He reaffirmed his commitment to discipline and dedication in the Nigerian Army, stating that the new rank would inspire him to serve more diligently.
Muhammad also appreciated the NYSC Director General for his leadership, mentorship, and guidance, while commending the NYSC management and staff for their continued support.
Earlier, the Acting Director of Special Duties at NYSC, Mr George Mfongang, described the decoration as recognition of years of sacrifice, discipline, and meritorious service.
