Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has reacted to reports surrounding the alleged removal of the Minister of Finance following a cabinet shake-up by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a strongly worded statement, Melaye questioned the rationale behind ministerial dismissals, arguing that in “civilised climes,” governments are expected to give clear explanations when officials are removed from office.
He further alleged that the development may be linked to an inability to account for or “cover up” funds amounting to $24 billion (about ₦34 trillion), which he claimed were diverted from national revenue.
Melaye also cited the World Bank in support of his claims, insisting that concerns over financial accountability must be properly addressed by the authorities.
