The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday presided over the closing ceremony of the Squadron Commanders’ Training Programme at the Nigeria Police Force’s Police Mobile Force (PMF) Training College in Ende-Hills, Nasarawa State.

The event marks a key step in ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership capacity and operational effectiveness within the force, particularly within the tactical arm of the police.

During his visit, the IGP inspected critical training facilities, including the simulation ground and shooting range, where he also took part in tactical drills. The move, according to police authorities, was aimed at demonstrating leadership by example and underscoring the importance of scenario-based training in modern policing.

Addressing cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy undergoing training at the college, Disu urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to the demands of their profession. He stressed the need for resilience, professionalism, and strict adherence to human rights standards, noting that their training would shape their future conduct in the field.

At the closing ceremony, the IGP commended the Squadron Commanders for successfully completing the intensive programme, charging them to apply the knowledge gained to improve leadership, operational discipline, and tactical efficiency in their respective units.

He also reiterated the importance of maintaining the Police Mobile Force as a highly responsive and reliable tactical unit capable of addressing evolving security challenges across the country.

Disu further reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing officer welfare and strengthening operational capacity, assuring that efforts would continue to equip formations adequately for effective service delivery.

The training programme is part of broader reforms within the Nigeria Police aimed at improving professionalism and boosting public confidence in the force.
