Social commentator and businessman Isaac Fayose has sparked reactions online after calling out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over Nigeria’s latest borrowing, while simultaneously showing off his newly acquired luxury vehicle.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Fayose alleged that the federal government recently secured a $516 million loan, questioning its impact on the lives of ordinary Nigerians. According to him, despite repeated borrowings, citizens have yet to feel any meaningful improvement in economic conditions.
“Tinubu don go borrow money again, 516 million dollars. All these money, we no dey feel am for street, we just dey see am for paper,” he said, expressing frustration over the perceived disconnect between government spending and public welfare.
Fayose further painted a bleak picture of economic activity, particularly in Lagos, which he described as losing its usual vibrancy. He claimed nightlife and businesses have slowed significantly, noting that many clubs now operate only on weekends due to reduced patronage.
In a contrasting display of wealth, Fayose used the same video to unveil his newly arrived Rolls Royce, reportedly delivered in Abuja. He extended an invitation to controversial activist VeryDarkMan to “test drive” the luxury car.
The video has since generated mixed reactions online, with some users criticizing the apparent contradiction between Fayose’s concerns about economic hardship and his public display of affluence, while others echoed his criticism of government borrowing and its perceived lack of impact on everyday Nigerians.
