Human rights advocate Harrison Gwamnishu has raised alarm over the alleged extrajudicial killings of two brothers by police, describing the situation as “heartbreaking” and calling for urgent accountability.
Gwamnishu disclosed that he recently met with the mother of the victims, who recounted how both of her sons died in separate incidents involving law enforcement officers under controversial circumstances.
According to the grieving mother, her first son was arrested from his home in 2022 and later died while in police custody. Authorities claimed he was killed during an exchange of gunfire, a version of events that has since been widely questioned by the family and rights advocates.
In a similar development, her second son, identified as Oghenemine Ogidi, also lost his life in what has been described as a comparable encounter with the police.
Gwamnishu emphasized that no mother should be subjected to such repeated tragedy, stressing that the incidents highlight the urgent need for transparency and accountability within the police system.
