Peter Obi this morning held a strategic meeting with the United States Consul General in Lagos, Rick Swart.
In a statement issued after the meeting, Obi said discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United States, with a strong emphasis on promoting credible, transparent, and interference-free elections.
“We focused on promoting credible elections in Nigeria, ensuring they are free from interference, and fostering a space where all political parties, especially opposition parties, can thrive and contribute,” Obi stated.
The meeting also explored opportunities to deepen trade and business partnerships between both nations.
Accompanying Obi was Adefolaseye Adebomi Adebayo.
Describing the engagement as “very productive,” Obi expressed optimism that Nigeria’s electoral process will continue to improve in credibility and transparency.
