The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the third and final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the country.
In a press statement issued on May 5, 2026, INEC disclosed that the exercise will commence on Monday, May 11, 2026, and run until Friday, July 10, 2026.
According to the Commission, the second phase of the CVR was earlier suspended on April 17, 2026, to enable officials to clean up the voter register following its publication for claims and objections.
INEC urged all eligible Nigerians who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who missed earlier registration phases, to take advantage of the final window to register.
The Commission also encouraged already registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct personal details to either visit INEC offices nationwide or access its online portal.
As part of the process, INEC revealed that the updated Register of Voters will be displayed for public scrutiny from July 23 to July 29, 2026. The exercise will allow citizens to raise claims and objections to ensure the credibility and accuracy of the voter database.
INEC reassured Nigerians of its readiness to conduct a smooth and transparent exercise, calling on citizens to actively participate in strengthening the country’s electoral system.
The statement was signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.
