APC Primaries Most Competitive in Nigeria – Yilwatda

Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the APC says the party’s ongoing primaries are the most competitive in Nigeria’s history, as the governing party continues its screening and selection processes ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, Nentawe Yilwatda, described the exercise as highly competitive, with thousands of aspirants contesting limited positions across the country, which he says reflects strong support for the APC.

But he acknowledged that the process has not been without tensions, with some complaints over consensus arrangements and internal disagreements in some states.

He maintains that the party’s guidelines are clear, adding that where consensus fails, direct primaries are held, with mechanisms to manage grievances, while noting President Tinubu’s satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise
