Calls are mounting across social media for urgent government action following reports of the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State, with emotions running high as Nigerians debate how to respond to the incident.
A post attributed to social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has circulated widely online, calling for nationwide solidarity with victims and demanding immediate rescue efforts. In the message, he criticized what he described as Nigerians’ tendency to quickly “move on” from tragedies, warning that continued insecurity could spread if urgent action is not taken.
The viral statement also appealed to public school teachers and parents to consider staying away from schools in protest until those reportedly abducted are released. It further urged collective pressure on government authorities to prioritize the safe return of the victims, while expressing concern over the psychological trauma and dangers children may face in captivity.
He wrote emotionally about the fear, uncertainty, and harsh conditions abducted children could be exposed to, stressing that insecurity in one region could signal broader risks nationwide if not addressed decisively.
Meanwhile, reactions remain divided online, with some Nigerians supporting the call for solidarity and urgent action, while others warn against disrupting education and urge citizens to allow security agencies to handle the situation.
The situation continues to develop.
