“I Have the Right to Shout!” — Protester Confronts Police During Lagos Rally Over Oyo Kidnappings

Protester Confronts Police

A protester in Lagos on Wednesday confronted a police officer during a demonstration over the recent kidnapping crisis involving schoolchildren, teachers, and others reportedly abducted in Oyo State.

In a video circulating online, the visibly emotional protester questioned calls for calm amid growing concerns over insecurity and kidnappings affecting schools and communities.

“I’m a citizen of this country. I have the right to shout. Children, people and teachers are in the bush. Teachers are being killed and you’re telling me to talk to you calmly? For what?” the protester said while addressing the officer.

The demonstration was organized to draw attention to the plight of victims and demand stronger action from authorities to secure the release of those reportedly held captive and improve security across affected areas.

Participants expressed frustration over the rising wave of kidnappings and attacks on schools, urging the government and security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and implement measures to prevent future incidents.
