Trump Calls Obama ‘Stupid Son of a Bitch’ While Defending New Iran Deal at G7

Trump and Obama

U.S. President Donald Trump sparked controversy at the G7 summit in France after using an expletive-laden remark about former President Barack Obama while defending his newly signed Iran peace agreement.

Speaking during a press conference on June 17, Trump attacked the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), claiming it handed Iran billions of dollars and was widely ridiculed by Iranian leaders. Trump alleged that Iranians referred to Obama as a “stupid son of a bitch” following the agreement, using the remark to contrast his own approach to negotiations with Tehran.

The comments came as Trump sought to rally support for a new U.S.-Iran ceasefire and peace framework announced at the G7 summit. The agreement includes a 60-day ceasefire, sanctions relief for Iran, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route. Trump argued that the deal helped avert a potential economic crisis and denied reports that the United States would contribute funding to a proposed $300 billion reconstruction initiative expected to be backed by Gulf allies.

Trump maintained that his agreement was superior to the Obama-era nuclear accord, insisting it would bring greater stability to the Middle East while protecting American interests. However, he also warned that military action could resume if Iran failed to honor its commitments under the deal.

The Iran deal remains one of the most debated foreign policy issues in modern U.S. politics, with supporters arguing it prevented conflict and critics claiming it offered Tehran too many concessions.
