The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 general election and Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, on Saturday paid a consultation visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Makinde was accompanied by former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
The meeting is seen as part of ongoing political consultations ahead of the 2027 general election, with Makinde becoming one of the first presidential hopefuls to publicly seek the counsel of the former president. Political observers believe other aspirants may also visit Obasanjo in the coming months.
Speaking after the meeting, Governor Makinde disclosed that their discussions focused on critical national issues and the future of the country.
We visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election. We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history,” Makinde said.
