A former British American Tobacco (BAT) staffer CDO has weighed in on the controversy involving P-Square, Jude Okoye and Lola, warning that they may eventually regret the situation.
“Ten years from now, 15 years from now, they will all be full of regrets. Both P-Square and Jude. They will regret what they are doing now,” he said.
He said he knew Lola personally and understood the role she played in P-Square’s early career.
“I worked with British American Tobacco. I know Lola,” he said.
According to him, Lola was instrumental in giving P-Square exposure and opportunities that helped establish them in the entertainment industry.
“Lola gave P-Square the platform,” he said, dismissing claims that others were solely responsible for managing or promoting the duo.
He recalled her involvement with Rhythm Council and FKG2, saying she ensured P-Square appeared at several FKG2 events when the company was one of the biggest corporate event managers.
“Lola made sure that she put them on almost every FKG2 event,” he said.
He further credited her with helping the duo become the P-Square Nigerians eventually knew.
“Lola single-handedly held them and dragged them to P-Square, to becoming P-Square,” he said.
On Lola’s relationship with Peter Okoye, he described Peter as “the most humane person in that family,” saying his decision to marry her was understandable given their history.
He acknowledged the family’s reported concerns about Peter marrying a woman about 10 years older but said such reservations should have been dropped once the relationship proved successful.
“There’s nobody that would see his younger brother or son getting married to a woman that is about 10 years older than you… and be happy,” he said.
However, he argued that the family should have focused on whether Lola was a good person instead of trying to stop the marriage.
He also questioned whether fears about Lola controlling Peter had materialised, noting that the marriage had lasted for years.
