Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has opened up about the demanding standards of award-winning filmmaker Funke Akindele, revealing that actors must come prepared whenever they are given roles in her productions.

Speaking during a recent interview with E-Splash, Arukwe described working with Akindele as a valuable experience that has contributed significantly to his growth as an actor.

According to the actor, Akindele is generous with praise when she is impressed by an actor’s performance, but she also expects professionalism and a strong understanding of the craft.

Arukwe said Akindele has little patience for actors who are not adequately prepared for their roles, noting that the realities of film production often make it difficult for her to teach acting from the basics while on set.

“She’s one of the best filmmakers and a great teacher, but one thing about her is that she doesn’t have patience for those who don’t know how to act,” he said.

The actor added that despite her high expectations, Akindele remains willing to help performers improve, particularly those who demonstrate the ability and commitment to learn.

Arukwe also spoke positively about the filmmaker’s influence on his career, saying he regards every call from her as an opportunity and a blessing.

“Every time Funke Akindele calls me, it’s always a blessing,” he said, recalling how she regularly praises his acting abilities and expresses satisfaction with his performances.

Arukwe and Akindele have worked together on notable projects, including A Tribe Called Judah and Behind the Scenes.
