Social media commentator Solomon Buchi has come to the defence of the widow of late gospel singer ToluwaniSings, following public disagreement over where the singer should be laid to rest.
In a video shared online, Buchi criticised those questioning her decision not to bury her husband at their home, insisting her wishes should be respected.
“His wife has the final say on where her husband should be buried,” he said. “Just because she doesn’t want him buried in the house does not mean she doesn’t love him.”
He also condemned the scrutiny of how she has been grieving, including claims that she was seen watching television with her mother after her husband’s passing. According to Buchi, Nigerian society often places unfair expectations on widows, judging them even in the middle of their mourning.
Buchi further argued that burying a loved one inside a residential building is inappropriate and, in his words, illegal in Nigeria.
He urged married men to write wills so that disputes between their wives and relatives can be avoided after their passing.
“Let her decide where her husband should be buried,” he concluded. “It’s as simple as that.”
