President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has said he travelled to Italy to pray for Nigeria, including an end to insecurity, terrorism and banditry, as well as peaceful conduct of the 2027 general elections.
Akpabio disclosed this while speaking about his visit to the Prayer Ground of St. Padre Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. He said the trip was a spiritual journey undertaken to seek divine intervention for Nigeria, its leaders and citizens.
According to the Senate President, his prayers extended beyond President Bola Tinubu and himself to the Vice President, members of the National Assembly, the Federal Executive Council and Nigerians as a whole.
He said he prayed specifically against insecurity, terrorism and banditry, while also seeking peace and stability ahead of the 2027 elections.
Akpabio said after the prayers, he received what he described as divine reassurance that all would be well with Nigeria.
After praying, God told me that I should go, that all is well. Nigeria is already in the hands of God, and God will wipe away the tears of Nigerians who are currently in pain.”
He added that despite the challenges confronting the country, he believes Nigeria will emerge from its difficulties.
Nigeria is in the hands of God. No matter the turbulence, we shall come out of the tribulations. Then God will wipe away the tears of those who are presently in pain and will bring succour to the weary.”
Akpabio also said he prayed for President Tinubu’s victory and the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, describing his return to politics as coming after what he considered a spiritually significant trip.
The Senate President’s visit to the St. Padre Pio prayer ground was earlier reported as part of prayers for an end to banditry and terrorism and peaceful 2027 elections.
