Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has accused the administration of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, of neglecting Southern Kaduna in the provision of infrastructure and essential social services.
Sani, who is the APC senatorial candidate for Kaduna Central, made the allegation while receiving the newly elected executive council of the Southern Kaduna Journalists Forum (SKJF), who paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Kaduna.
He contrasted the previous administration with that of incumbent Governor Uba Sani, whom he commended for what he described as a more inclusive approach to governance and development across the state.
According to the former lawmaker, Southern Kaduna experienced years of inadequate infrastructure and limited access to essential social amenities under El-Rufai’s administration.
He said the current government had taken steps to address the development gap through road construction, the completion of abandoned projects and investments in critical sectors.
Sani stated that the Uba Sani administration had committed billions of naira to education, agriculture, transportation and healthcare as part of efforts to ensure that communities across Kaduna State benefited from government programmes.
He also praised the governor for promoting unity among the state’s diverse ethnic groups, stressing that justice, equity and fairness were necessary for peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.
“Development initiatives across both Southern and Northern Kaduna are helping to promote inclusion and ensure that citizens across the state benefit from government programmes, while working together for the overall development of the state,” Sani said.
The former senator maintained that equitable distribution of public infrastructure and social services was essential to strengthening public confidence in government and preventing divisions among communities.
The visit by the journalists’ forum also provided an opportunity for discussions on governance, regional development, peacebuilding and the media’s responsibility in promoting accountability.
