Nigerian gospel singer Chidinma Ekile has revealed that her decision to return to Nigeria after attempting to relocate abroad marked a turning point in her spiritual journey.
The singer disclosed that she had travelled overseas and was processing documents to secure permanent residency because she had no intention of returning to Nigeria. However, her plans fell through, eventually leading to her return to the country.
Speaking at a recent event organised by Eezee Conceptz, Chidinma credited the record label’s CEO with encouraging her during her difficult period abroad.
According to her, he was the only person who consistently reached out to her from Nigeria, offering support and encouragement that eventually gave her the strength to return home.
Upon her return, the singer said she approached him for a gospel music contract because she wanted to dedicate more time to building her relationship with God.
She explained that the contract she received was so generous that even her lawyer described it as resembling charity.
Chidinma, who previously gained fame as a secular musician, clarified that her transition into gospel music was not initially driven by a desire to become a gospel singer but by her yearning to develop a deeper and more serious relationship with God.
