Controversial journalist Dr Kemi Olunloyo has made fresh allegations involving Afrobeats singer Davido, rapper Zlatan Ibile and entertainment executive Damilare Oluwasegun Aladegbola, popularly known as Dre DMW, in connection with the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.
In a lengthy statement, Olunloyo alleged that Davido contacted Mohbad’s associate, identified as NM, on the day the singer died to inquire about acquiring his music catalogue.
According to her, the catalogue was potentially worth millions of dollars, particularly given Mohbad’s songwriting contributions to Marlian Music. She claimed that NM was unwilling to release the catalogue because of the investments reportedly made in Mohbad’s career and existing contractual arrangements.
Olunloyo further alleged that rapper Zlatan played a role in influencing Mohbad to leave Marlian Music and join Davido’s record label, DMW.
She also made allegations concerning financial assistance reportedly sent by Davido to Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, claiming that the singer sent N2 million as a condolence gesture but that only N1 million was delivered.
In another serious allegation, the journalist accused Dre DMW of involvement in the handling of Mohbad’s remains, claiming that the singer’s hair was shaved and collected before being transferred to Davido for alleged ritual purposes.
Olunloyo attempted to link the allegation to Davido’s subsequent album title, Oriade, which she interpreted as meaning “crowned head”, suggesting a connection to the alleged collection of Mohbad’s hair.
She also described Dre DMW as an influential figure within Davido’s professional circle, identifying him as a public relations expert, talent manager and media aide associated with Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) and the 30 Billion Gang (30BG).
Reflecting on her earlier claims in 2023, Olunloyo argued that Nigerians ignored the information until social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) became involved in discussions surrounding the controversy.
She questioned why Nigerians allegedly failed to pay attention to her earlier warnings and concluded her statement with strong criticism of Davido, Zlatan and Dre DMW.
