The African Action Congress (AAC) has formally written to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, seeking approval to hold the inauguration of its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, on November 11, 2026.
In a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikp… ioghena, the AAC also requested food, drinks and other logistical support for participants expected at the event.
The party said its request was guided by the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, fairness and equal treatment of political parties in the country.
According to the letter, the AAC referenced arrangements reportedly extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement, arguing that public institutions should be accessible to all Nigerians without partisan discrimination.
The party maintained that equal treatment of political parties was necessary to strengthen democratic participation and ensure a level playing field for political actors ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The proposed inauguration is expected to mark a significant step in the AAC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election, in which activist and party presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore is expected to lead its campaign.
However, the Presidency had yet to respond to the request as of the time of this report.
