Abia State government compels annual leave for workers’

The Abia State government has said that public servants in the state service must henceforth mandatorily take their yearly leave within the leave year or face sanctions that include forfeiting their leave entitlements.

A circular released yesterday by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Pensions, Mr. Okechukwu Ihedioha, stated that the policy affects all public servants no matter their cadre, level or office.

The circular titled “Annual Leave, A Must For All Public Servants,” stated that except there is a written approval from his office for deferred leave, it is mandatory for all the government workers to go on annual leave within the leave year.”
