Nollywood actor, Laide Olabanji, has urged Nigerians to consider supporting Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election, arguing that the country needs a change in leadership.

Olabanji made the call in a post shared on his Instagram page, where he questioned Nigerians who, despite experiencing challenges such as poor electricity supply and high fuel costs, still want the current government to remain in power.

He wrote:

You’ve not had light since and you can’t even afford to buy fuel and yet you want the current government to come back. If a Govt can destroy it, another Govt is ready to rebuild it.”

The actor also drew a comparison with Nigeria’s political history, stating that former President Shehu Shagari’s administration ruled for four years before, according to him, the military government led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari and his deputy Tunde Idiagbon took over and began restoring the country.

Shеu Shagari ruled for 4 years and destroyed everything, Idiagbon came onboard and made Nigeria great again within 4 months,” he added.

Olabanji concluded his post by urging Nigerians to give Obi an opportunity to lead the country.

Let’s give Peter Obi a chance to make the country great again,” he wrote.

The actor has in recent weeks repeatedly used his social media platforms to express his views on governance and openly support Obi ahead of the 2027 election.

  1. Maybe 2031, but not 2027! Obi doesn’t have a clear idea of what to do, he’s a pretender.
