Media entrepreneur and politician Dele Momodu has criticised the conduct of security agencies during the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) convention, while also commenting on Nigeria’s evolving political landscape ahead of future elections.
Speaking in a recent remark, Momodu alleged that top security officials were absent from their core duties during the APC convention, claiming they were present at the political gathering instead of maintaining national security responsibilities.
He said: “When APC was having their own convention, all the heads of security agents were there… they abandoned their roles and Sambisa Forest to go mount with APC.”
Momodu further criticised the event’s conditions, describing the venue as overcrowded and lacking adequate facilities, while suggesting that the situation reflected poorly on the ruling party.
According to him, rather than weakening opposition movements, such political dynamics are inadvertently strengthening the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as more political actors appear to be aligning or being linked with the emerging coalition space.
He also referenced key political figures including Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Sule Lamido, and Rotimi Amaechi, suggesting that political realignments are gradually consolidating opposition forces.
Momodu also expressed sympathy for members of the APC, stating that the internal political environment feels increasingly difficult, likening their situation to “slavery,” while insisting that the ongoing political shifts are reshaping Nigeria’s opposition structure.
