President Bola Tinubu on Thursday received Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, days after the governor secured re-election in the state’s governorship election.
Adeleke arrived at the Villa at about 5:25 pm, dressed in a navy blue traditional outfit and carrying a walking stick. He was accompanied by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
The meeting marks Adeleke’s first known visit to the President since his victory in last Saturday’s governorship poll, which saw him return to office for another term.
The governor’s visit also comes days after Tinubu personally congratulated him over the electoral victory and urged him to use his renewed mandate to promote unity among the people of Osun State, irrespective of their political affiliations.
The President had described Adeleke’s victory as a “fitting assurance” that democracy would continue to flourish in Nigeria.
Other members of the governor’s delegation were also sighted at the Presidential Villa around 5:40 pm. They included the Director-General of the Adeleke Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi; a member of the council, Sunday Bisi; the Osun State Chief of Staff, Akinleye Kazeem; and the member of the House of Representatives representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency, Bamidele Salam.
The meeting is expected to provide an opportunity for discussions between the President and the Osun governor following the outcome of the governorship election and the next phase of governance in the state.
