The Executive Governor of Rivers state, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has lashed out at the minister of niger delta, and former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio over his recent calls for Niger Delta governors to give account of allocations to their states.
Recall the Niger delta minister recently commissioned the new NDDC headquarters in Rivers state and while fielding questions from journalists before the main occasion, he had taken a swipe at the governors from the region blaming them for not doing enough as compared with the allocations given to the region by the federal government.
Akpabio had gone ahead to call on the governors of the region to give an account of all the monies they have collected in the region.
Responding, the Rivers State Governor had said Akpabiio lacked the moral standing to call on any niger delta governor to give account for monies collected.
Gov Wike berated Akpabio adding that while he was governor of Akwa Ibom state, other governors of the region knew how he behaved then.
Wike added that Akpabio had seen himself as a demi-god then as he always saw himself s being above other governors from the region.
He also accused the minister of sponsoring militants to launch attacks in the region just because the governors did not support his project in the new NDDC office.
Gov Wike also wondered why Akpabio had failed the senate elections in his hometown even though he had boasted of enjoying the goodwill of his people.
Speaking further, Gov Wike accused Akpabio of running to the APC to stop his prosecution by the EFCC.
According to Wike, Akpabio had approached the party to join because he knew the EFCC would go after him once he stepped down as governor.
He then went ahead to warn the minister to desist from talking about his state – Rivers state and focus on his work as minister.
