As the Peoples Democratic Party Governorship primary election in Anambra State draws closer, it is expedient to remind our distinguished party delegates the need to consider capacity, competence and credibility of the aspirants when casting their votes.
Whosoever that will fly the party’s Governorship flag must possess the listed attributes thereby giving us the strength and hope to emerge victorious in the November 6 Election in Anambra State.
Our choice candidate must have both financial and human capacity to prosecute the upcoming election. The person should be a good grassroots man, appealing to majority and have the needed financial war chest to canvass for votes. It will be catastrophic to give the party ticket to someone who will be hoping on freewill donations, loan and all other financial supports during the election. It will also be disastrous to give the ticket to someone without a proven record of achievements to face candidates from other parties.
I have always predicted that APGA already has the state fund at her disposal while APC will surely enjoy the financial backing of the federal government in this election. Therefore, PDP delegates should go for an aspirant that has the financial muscle to wrestle the candidates of the other parties if we are serious and determined to win this election.
Secondly, our delegates must place competence at the peak of their decision scale. A trusted hand who has shown over time to be competent enough to get Anambra State working again should get the ticket. The would be candidate must be the one who has the ability to efficiently galvanize resources and heal our ailing economy, provide jobs for the youths and adequately confront the present security challenges bedeviling our state.
If these attributes formed the yardstick for choosing the party candidate, the PDP delegates should go for Dr. Godwin Maduka.
Dr Godwin Maduka’s antecedents have shown and proved overtime that he has the capacity to win this Governorship election because he is credible and competent.
