Selected political appointees of the outgoing governor of Anambra State have come under heavy personality attack on account of perceived or evident disloyalty to the whims and fancies of the Reformed Aguoka Cabal on the choice of party gubernatorial candidate.
This development was revealed on social media by an S.A to the outgoing governor on Ugu Export Hon Vincent Ezechukwu who stated that some boys working for a strong APGA gubernatorial aspirant Hon Chuma Umeoji has declared war on the governor’s appointees in Aguata council area.
Ohaneze Ndigbo and leaders of thought should condemn this ugly development and redirect the APGA warlords to go and tackle the unknown gunmen currently on rampage in the state, rather than adding a civil disobedience angle to the ongoing insecurity challenges.
According to Hon Ezechukwu, the boys have resorted to blackmailing his colleagues from that area in orchestrated attacks, but didn’t specify if the aggression was believed to be sponsored by the gubernatorial aspirant in reference.
This development could probably be connected to the news making the rounds that APGA has threatened aspirants, political appointees and party stakeholders with dissenting voices to either accept Soludo as the consensus candidate or leave the party in peace.
However, I am not surprised personally that APGA could issue such order this time considering the heavy allegations of extortion and treachery that pervaded her last gubernatorial primaries in Anambra, Imo, Abia and other states.
Whether or not the purported order will be to the party’s advantage or peril actually depends on the outcome of PDP primaries because the truth remains that PDP is too much of a fight for APGA as it is.
Much as the internal affairs of APGA is neither my business nor that of PDP, the outgoing party should please spare us the looming carnage that’s seemingly evolving from their internal wranglings.
This growing animosity among APGA gladiators is a dangerous trend, considering the current state of insecurity in Anambra whereby security personnel are being attacked back and forth without tangible response from the so-called security conscious government.
