In anticipation of heavy traffic during the festive season, the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Delta State Police Command, has launched a joint operation to ensure free traffic flow and bolster security at the First and Second Niger Bridges.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, follows a comprehensive security assessment aimed at addressing the anticipated challenges during and after the yuletide. As part of the operation, CP Itam conducted an on-site inspection of the two bridges alongside the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Anambra State. He also engaged the Delta State Commissioner of Police to enhance inter-state cooperation and surveillance along the critical routes.
The joint task force will focus on clearing traffic bottlenecks, intensifying patrols, and preventing criminal activities along the roadways. CP Itam emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to safeguard the traveling public, particularly during the high-travel period, and to ensure seamless vehicular movement across the region.

“The Anambra State Police Command is committed to maintaining the safety of lives and property. This collaborative operation underscores our determination to prevent crime, restore order, and protect residents and visitors throughout the festive season,” CP Itam stated.
The police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, also reiterated the command’s readiness to explore innovative strategies to consolidate the progress made in crime prevention and traffic management within the state.
With this robust security framework in place, travelers can anticipate a safer and smoother journey as they traverse the busy Niger Bridge corridors this yuletide.
