The Anambra State Police Command has intensified its campaign against cultism, violent crimes, and other social vices through the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), unveiling plans for a statewide youth engagement programme.
The Command disclosed that the renewed advocacy was highlighted during a radio programme held on Tuesday, July 8, 2026, which brought together traditional rulers, youth leaders, community representatives, and members of the public to discuss strategies for tackling crime and promoting positive values.
According to the Police, the interactive session focused on sensitising residents to the dangers of cultism, substance abuse, cybercrime, and other criminal activities. Participants also explored practical ways to strengthen community partnerships, mentor young people, and encourage lawful and productive lifestyles.
The Command announced that POCACOV would soon commence a series of youth-focused engagements across Anambra State aimed at deepening public awareness, discouraging criminal behaviour among young people, and promoting peace, discipline, and responsible citizenship.
It also revealed that preparations are underway to receive the National Coordinator of POCACOV from the Force Headquarters in Abuja before the end of July. The visit is expected to officially launch a comprehensive schedule of activities, including programmes for students during the August long vacation, advocacy sessions with youth groups, engagements with women during August meetings, and other community-based initiatives designed to prevent crime.
The Anambra State Police Command called on parents, teachers, traditional and religious leaders, youth organisations, and other stakeholders to support the POCACOV initiative by encouraging young people to reject cultism and other social vices while embracing responsible behaviour and becoming ambassadors of peace and development.
The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
