The Anambra State Police Command has intensified efforts to enhance the operational preparedness and professionalism of its personnel through a specialised arms drill and operational readiness exercise.
The exercise, conducted on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, was supervised by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Miller Gajere Dantawaye, who oversees the Police Supervisory Zone comprising Anambra and Enugu states.
The drill focused on strengthening officers’ competence in weapon handling, tactical coordination, discipline and compliance with established safety and operational procedures.
Personnel were taken through practical exercises designed to improve precision, controlled responses and professional conduct during the deployment of police weapons and other operational equipment.
Speaking on the exercise, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended AIG Dantawaye for the initiative, stressing the importance of continuous training in improving police effectiveness.
Ama urged officers to apply the skills acquired during the exercise in their daily duties, while ensuring strict adherence to the law, Force policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
The Commissioner also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to building a disciplined and professionally competent workforce capable of responding effectively to emerging security challenges and protecting lives and property across the state.
The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen operational readiness and promote responsible policing among its personnel.
