The Anambra State Police Command has ordered heightened security and intelligence gathering across strategic locations in the state ahead of the planned visit of high-profile dignitaries.
The Command said the security measures are designed to prevent possible threats, protect lives and property, and ensure smooth movement before, during and after the visit.
As part of the preparations, the police, in collaboration with sister security and safety agencies, on Monday commenced the first phase of a comprehensive assessment of designated venues, major access routes, critical infrastructure and other strategic locations.
The exercise is expected to help security agencies identify vulnerabilities and close possible security gaps before the arrival of the dignitaries.
Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, directed Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to conduct detailed security assessments within their respective areas and immediately address identified concerns.
The CP also ordered personnel involved in the operation to remain vigilant and professional while respecting the fundamental rights of residents and operating within the law.
The Command said its preparations include intelligence coordination, access and movement control, strategic deployment, traffic management and emergency response planning.
The police, however, called on residents, motorists, business owners and community leaders to cooperate with security personnel and comply with lawful directives during the period.
Members of the public were also urged to promptly report suspicious persons, movements or activities that could pose a threat to public safety.
According to the Command, the security operation will remain in force before, during and after the visit as part of efforts to maintain a secure and orderly environment across Anambra.
The police assured residents that the deployment is aimed at safeguarding the public while ensuring that legitimate activities continue without unnecessary disruption.
