Another Nigerian has allegedly been killed during a South African police operation in Cape Town, according to members of the Nigerian community in the country.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, July 23, 2026, during a police raid in the Bellville area of Cape Town.
Witnesses alleged that one Nigerian man was strangled during a drug search, while another was shot in the mouth by officers involved in the operation.
The Nigerian community in South Africa has strongly condemned the alleged incident and is calling for an immediate, independent investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and ensure those responsible, if any wrongdoing is established, are held accountable.
