Are Nigerians Set For Atiku-Wike Joint Ticket of the PDP Ahead of 2023 Presidency?

It is no longer news that for some time now the former Vice President of Nigeria, and Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for the 2019 presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the Rivers state Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, have been at loggerheads on certain issues concerning the party. It was alleged that the disagreement started with Governor Wike’s attempt to take control of the party, a move believed to be targeted at paving the way for his friend and Sokoto state counterpart, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, to emerge as the party’s flag-bearer in 2023.

On the other hand, the move was seen by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as a threat to his 2023 presidential ambition, leading to a disagreement between the two political giants. Since then, the duo have been at loggerheads until recently. As obtained from various media outlets, the two stakeholders of the PDP have set aside their differences after the former Vice President visited the Rivers state Governor in Port-Harcourt on Tuesday.

Considering that these two individuals have reconciled, we may begin to wonder whether Nigerians could be set to see a PDP joint ticket of Atiku Abubakar and Nyesom Wike.It is no longer news that the former Vice President is warming up for the 2023 presidential election, and must select a southerner as his running mate if he eventually emerges as the PDP candidate for the 2023 presidential election.

Arguably, the reconciliation of Atiku and Wike cannot be totally separated from the politics of 2023 presidency. It is common knowledge that Atiku has his eyes set on the 2023 presidential election ticket of the PDP. As such, there are chances that Wike may begin to work with him ahead of the 2023 presidential election after this reconciliation. With this in mind, one may not be wrong to think that the two political giants could be pairing at the 2023 elections.
