Atiku’s Spokesman Demands Tinubu’s Resignation Over Rising Insecurity

Atiku and Tinubu

Paul Ibe, Media Adviser and spokesman to ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign, citing worsening insecurity across the country.

Speaking on the state of the nation’s security, Ibe argued that the government has failed in its constitutional responsibility to protect lives and ensure the welfare of citizens.

“The primary responsibility of government is security and welfare. Are we more secure now than we were in 2023? The answer is no. According to statistics, 879 people have been killed, and nearly 300 are in captivity,” he said.

Ibe maintained that the current administration should be held accountable for the security situation, insisting that Nigerians deserve better protection and leadership.

He also criticized ongoing efforts to establish state police, alleging that the move could be politically motivated ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, Atiku Abubakar would not support accelerated legislative action on state police in an election year, arguing that the proposed reform could be exploited by state governors for political purposes.

“What this administration is trying to do is to sign the state police bill into law and give the state governors that they’ve coerced into their party the opportunity to recruit all the thugs associated with them for the purposes of the 2027 election,” Ibe alleged.
