The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, identified as Anulika Onyeanusia, over an alleged case of child pornography and abuse in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The arrest was made on Thursday evening, September 10, 2026, following open-source intelligence linked to a disturbing video circulating online that allegedly showed a woman sexually abusing a minor.
According to the police, the operation also led to the rescue of four children, aged two, three, six and nine years respectively.
Sex toys and other items described by the police as relevant to the ongoing investigation were also recovered during the operation.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and determine whether other individuals were involved.
The police said the husband of the suspect is also being interrogated to establish whether he had any connection to the alleged offence.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, described the alleged abuse as deeply disturbing and unacceptable, particularly because it involved children who are unable to protect themselves.
He directed that the matter be thoroughly and professionally investigated while ensuring that the rescued children receive appropriate care and protection.
The Command said its priority extends beyond investigation and prosecution to the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the children. It added that it would work with relevant child-protection and support agencies to provide the children with necessary care, counselling and other assistance.
The police also assured that the identities and privacy of the children would be protected throughout the process and that they would be treated with compassion and sensitivity.
The Command commended vigilante operatives, bloggers and residents who provided information that assisted the investigation and contributed to the arrest of the suspect.
The investigation is ongoing.
