Former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State and 2018 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Professor Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, has formally resigned his membership from the PDP.
In a resignation letter dated July 24, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of his Okeruku Ward 2 in Ikere-Ekiti, Ikere Local Government Area, Olusola-Eleka announced his decision to exit the party, citing the PDP’s failure to provide a viable platform for credible opposition and national leadership.
A copy of the letter was made available to Nigerian Tribune on Thursday.
Professor Olusola-Eleka, a professor of Building Technology, served as Deputy Governor of Ekiti State between 2014 and 2018 under the administration of former Governor Ayodele Fayose. He was also the PDP’s flagbearer in the 2018 gubernatorial election in the state.
In his letter, the former Deputy Governor expressed gratitude to the PDP for the platform it provided him over the years but decried the party’s inability to remain focused and effective in delivering purposeful leadership and acting as a credible opposition.
Sources close to the former deputy governor indicate that he is finalizing plans to officially join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the coming days, a move seen as part of ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2026 general elections.
