A 55-year-old motorist escaped without injury after a moving train collided with his Honda car at the PWD railway crossing in Lagos on Friday, October 9. The collision left the vehicle extensively damaged, but no casualty was reported at the scene, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

The train was travelling towards Agege when it hit the car, which was identified by registration number EKY 902 JT. LASTMA operatives and security personnel rescued the driver and removed the wrecked vehicle from the tracks, allowing the train to continue its journey.

Despite the removal of the damaged car, traffic congestion persisted around the PWD axis as officials worked to manage movement in the area. The vehicle was subsequently handed over to security personnel for investigation into the cause of the collision.

LASTMA urged motorists to exercise caution at railway crossings and warned against attempting to cross when a train is approaching or already in motion. The agency stressed that obeying railway safety rules is essential to preventing avoidable accidents.
