Two police officers were killed while another was injured after suspected gunmen attacked a police checkpoint in Aluu, Rivers State, on Monday night.
The officers were on routine stop-and-search duty when the assailants opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Although eyewitnesses claimed the attackers had carried out a robbery before the attack.
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible.
